Since 1894, Christ Church has been celebrating May Fete. This year's theme was “May The Fete be with You.”
At 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, there was a bilingual Rite II Eucharist in the Cathedral. At this service, the Treble Choir sang the Offertory Anthem, "For the Beauty of the Earth" by John Rutter (b. 1845).
On this occasion, worshippers were encouraged to wear comfortable clothes. There was no need to dress up. Most folks wore shorts and a May Fete t-shirt. At the conclusion of this service, there was food (we had plenty of fair-style favorites like chicken tenders and hot dogs), music by the The Lone Star Bluegrass Band, arts activities and a Bake Sale.
There was Aguas Frescas brought by our Latino Ministries and our ever-popular Cathedral Lemonade and water, to a wonderful selection of adult fare courtesy of Saint Arnold Brewing Co.
All May Fete festivities were free of charge. We wanted everyone to participate in the fun of May Fete without worrying about their wallet.
At 11:15 a.m. there was a May Pole Dance & the Crowning of the King & Queen.
